The 2,200 square foot Robert L. and Grace F. Eldridge Gallery was officially dedicated during the Prix de
West Invitational opening weekend, June 9-10, 1995. Funds for the gallery were donated by Mrs. Roberta
Eldridge Miller, Oklahoma City, in honor of her late parents. Robert Eldridge was a World War I veteran
who had several careers including a pharmacist, businessman, realtor, oil realty investor, rancher and
Drawing largely on recent acquisitions, this exhibition seeks to broaden public understanding of the
National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum's principal activities in the collection, preservation and
interpretation of our shared legacy in the American West.
All three museum functions - collecting, preserving and interpreting - are dynamic, ever-changing and
interrelated. They are a vital part of the mosaic of activities that give museums their distinct character.
