Introduction
Fred Alvord was once rodeo secretary, director, and champion cowboy. This collection from his son includes several photographs and postcards featuring well-known rodeo personalities.

Biography
There is next to nothing mentioned in the rodeo books and articles about Fred Alvord. Some books mention him as a rodeo secretary or arena director in the production of several rodeos. One mentions that he was also a champion cowboy, and was married to Ruth Roach for a time.

Scope & Content Note  

This collection contains two rodeo photographs and five rodeo photographic postcards. Several of the postcards are from Doubleday and the rodeo personalities represented include: Mike Hastings, Red Sublett, Fred Alvord, and Alice Sisty.

This collection was accessioned on July 18, 1989. The scope and content note was written by librarian Karen Spilman in February 2003. The current finding aid was written and posted online by archivist/librarian Laura Anne Heller in October 2009.
