The Image Archives

Image Database Archive (IDA)
Use this tool to search for images that have been scanned and cataloged for you to browse, research, study, and/or request prints. Images include photographs, tintypes, carte de visites, cabinet cards, lobby cards, movie posters, film stills, sketches, and numerous other graphic material.

Introduction
The Center has described the types of materials available in the Image Database Archive and items that are held in the collections. The image archives continues to grow, both in the number of images added to the database and in the number of images added to the archival collections.

Search Tips
Having trouble searching the Image Database Archive? This page explains the search process and all its special features. It is not quite like searching Google or Yahoo, so the tips here may prove very helpful in your searching!

Major Photo Collections
Here we have provided a list of our archival collections that focus on photographic images. The Center continues to scan images from several of these collections. Some images may not be in the Image Archive Database yet, but may available for preview or viewing at the Center.
